Modern life can be overwhelming. Regardless of how hard-working and capable you are, you may be struggling to stay motivated, balance your responsibilities, and live the life you want to be living. Reaching your full potential in a world that demands so much of you may feel impossible, but it does not have to be.
Therapy is a collaborative process that can support you in overcoming the internal and external forces keeping you from being who you want to be. I am psychodynamically oriented. That means I may encourage you to explore how your past experiences are impacting your present moment. Together, we can use this deep understanding of who you are to identify your goals and design a path toward achieving them.
My therapeutic style is compassionate, authentic, thoughtful, and patient-led. I believe that you are the expert in your own life. I also know that even the hardiest plants need the right environment to flourish. My goal is to provide a therapeutic environment that is most conducive to your growth and allows you to continue to grow outside of therapy. That might look like helping you build comfort with emotional expression and vulnerability, supporting you in increasing your self-awareness and self-compassion and empowering you to explore your most difficult questions with freedom rather than fear.
I am particularly passionate about working with young adults and “transitional-age youth” including students. I have experience working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, and OCD. I am also passionate about supporting those struggling with sexuality and gender identity exploration, life transitions, and culturally-related stress.
My Training
I am a Registered Psychological Associate supervised by Brian Sedgeley, Psy.D. This means I am not yet able to work as an independently licensed psychologist. Being an Associate is one way for me to gather training experience towards this.
I am entering my fourth year of the Wright Institute doctoral program in clinical psychology. I previously trained at the Contra Costa College Wellness Program, The Wright Institute Psychodynamic Clinic, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital-Oakland. I have been fortunate to work with individuals of different ages, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences.
Before beginning my educational journey in clinical psychology, I studied political economy at UC Berkeley, concentrating on socioeconomic inequality in the United States. I bring an interest in and understanding of the ways that our society impacts our individual realities to my clinical practice.
A registered Psychological Associate is a pre-licensed therapist working under the California Board of Psychology’s approval. All of their work is supervised by a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist. This can be seen as a continuation of their pursuit of a doctoral degree in psychology.
I am supervised by Dr. Brian S. Sedgeley
My registration number is: PSB94027542
