To this work, I bring my deep commitment to the potential for language to describe, to express, to connect, and to capture one’s feelings and convey them to another. I will listen to you deeply, and perhaps in a way you may not have experienced before. Together we can develop a shared language to explore what the world is like for you and how it could be different. Our work together will help you make new meaning from your past experiences, give words to feelings that have been previously unspoken, and provide you the opportunity to understand yourself in a new way.
Maybe you are feeling isolated and lonely, and connecting with others or yourself feels hard. Perhaps you find yourself feeling stuck in some go-to patterns that are difficult to get out of, or maybe your usual strategies for navigating life just don’t seem to be working anymore. Perhaps you are going through a major life transition, or you are feeling disappointed with certain aspects of your life. I provide support with experiences of depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, grief and loss, relationship and family of origin challenges, and school issues. You don’t have to go it alone. I hope to create a safe space with you where we can explore things together, and you can feel empowered to make meaningful change in your life.
I work with adults across the lifespan, and have particular experience working with emerging and young adults (18+). I offer psychodynamic psychotherapy that is supportive, relational, and attachment focused. My work is guided by the idea that childhood relationships have a lasting impact, and come to shape a person’s sense of themselves, others, and the world. Together we will collaborate to uncover the underlying patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating that may have served you at one time in your life, but that are now blocking you from living the life you want.
My previous clinical experiences have prepared me to work with a wide range of diverse patients from different cultural contexts. My experience includes working with at-risk high school students, underprivileged children and their families, and demographically diverse community college and university students, as well as doing assessment with underadvantaged patients. I have the most clinical training working with emerging and young adults at both community college and university counseling sites. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at University of Nebraska-Lincoln Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), where I was trained in both brief therapy and crisis intervention, and worked extensively with both undergraduate and graduate students.
