At Bay Psychology Group, Inc., we believe that everyone should have access to high-quality psychotherapy services, regardless of their insurance coverage. That’s why we offer a variety of options to our patients, including direct acceptance of Anthem Blue Cross, SHIP, and Medicare, as well as PPO plans and out-of-network insurance coverage. We understand that navigating the complex world of insurance billing can be overwhelming, and we strive to make it as easy and straightforward as possible for our patients to utilize their insurance benefits for their psychotherapy sessions.

PPO plans offer greater flexibility and choice for patients, allowing them to see any licensed therapist or psychologist they choose, regardless of whether they are in-network or out-of-network. Patients with PPO plans can use their insurance benefits to see our licensed therapists and psychologists, even if we are not in their insurance network. This means that patients with PPO plans can receive high-quality psychotherapy services from Bay Psychology Group, Inc. while still utilizing their insurance benefits to pay for their sessions.

For patients with out-of-network insurance coverage, we offer superbill or courtesy billing services to help them receive the reimbursement they deserve from their insurance provider. Out-of-network insurance coverage means that patients can receive psychotherapy services from Bay Psychology Group, Inc. even if we are not in their insurance network. We work closely with our patients to help them understand their coverage and maximize their benefits.

We understand that the cost of psychotherapy services can be a significant concern for many of our patients, which is why we offer a variety of billing options to make our services more affordable. By accepting a variety of insurance plans, including direct acceptance of Anthem Blue Cross, SHIP, and Medicare, as well as PPO plans and out-of-network insurance coverage, we can help our patients get the care they need while minimizing their out-of-pocket costs.

What is a Superbill? What is Courtesy Billing?

A superbill is a document that provides a detailed breakdown of the services you received during your psychotherapy session. It includes information such as the date of the session, the type of service you received, the duration of the session, and the cost of the service. With a superbill, patients can submit the document to their insurance company for reimbursement, typically through their out-of-network benefits. The insurance company will review the superbill and reimburse the patient for a portion of the cost of the session, based on the terms of their policy.

Courtesy billing is a service provided by some psychotherapy practices to help patients utilize their insurance benefits. When a practice offers courtesy billing, they will submit a claim to the patient’s insurance company on behalf of the patient. This can help streamline the billing process and reduce the amount of paperwork patients need to submit. It’s important to note that the amount of reimbursement a patient receives through courtesy billing will depend on their insurance coverage and the terms of their policy. In some cases, patients may still be responsible for a portion of the cost of their psychotherapy sessions, even with courtesy billing.

We help people navigating anxiety, identity concerns, relationship strain, and emotional burnout—especially those who often carry a lot without letting it show. If you’re looking for something deeper than surface-level fixes, psychodynamic therapy might be right for you.
